PUBLIC / TRIBAL / NON-PROFIT WORK
Our public, tribal, and non-profit clients have ranged from Native
American Nations to the National Forest Service, to City and County
Governments. Our unique facilitation process is geared towards the
vital participation of all stakeholders involved. We strongly believe
in the role of the architect as consensus builder through an
imaginative, inclusive design approach.
The Yavapai-Apache Cultural
Resource Center [above center] is a 7,250 sq.ft. facility located on a
dramatic bluff in the Verde Valley. The design sensitively integrates
important cultural symbols, artwork and rituals of both the Yavapai and
Apache Tribes. A darkened entry sequence composed of stone and water
makes reference to the creation story of both cultures as it opens into
a naturally daylit gallery and ceremonial space.

Truly you have created a building that is a
magnificent marriage of form and function. I know that I am proud to
have been on the board that chose your design. I send you and your team
a heartfelt THANK YOU. With deep gratitude,
- Joan Dukes,

Highlands Center for Natural History
Jeff & Matt really listened to the land, and
took-to-heart the Tribe's history and needs. This is truly a
remarkable work that aesthetically, culturally, and environmentally
addresses the past history, present needs, and future hopes of the
Yavapai-Apache Nation.
