Architect
Jeffrey Zucker apprenticed under Paolo Soleri at Arcosanti in
Arizona. It is surprising that one of his first solo projects
would be
in the Ohio landscape; however, he managed to incorporate many
efficient design elements into this temperate-climate home.
The cabin,
begun in 1976, is a passive-solar structure utilizing lots of circles
in its design. |

The
roof is literally draped from the mast of the
chimney, over the circular spaces, and lifted around the
perimeters.
The results are crescent-shaped windows with heavy brows.
The
Stone House is a celebration of energy independence and also of the
practical use of recycled materials. Much of the wood used on the
warm
