The front door opens to a stair on the right that leads to the open kitchen and to the bedroom down the hall.



nearby saw mills; the stone was gathered from surrounding creeks.  The rooms gradually wind around the central core, nautilus-like, with heat rising and emanating from the massive Russian fireplace in the lower-level living room. 

The fireplace rises to warm the bath and shower area, which is a few steps from the master bedroom. 
A hidden door near the shower opens to the outside for toweling off on a beautiful summer day.
 
When Jeff returned to Arizona to open his architectural practice, he turned the house over to trusted friend and contractor, Jack Vetter.  Jack successfully completed Jeff's design.

Today, the Stone House lives in the forest, as much a part of nature as its neighboring morels and trees.
