CATALYST Partners Discuss New Projects With Dr. Paolo Soleri

CORDES JUNCTION, AZ- The principals of AZUR-Ecotecture (the Master Planning division of CATALYST ARCHITECTURE), met at Arcosanti on January 7th to discuss future projects in the Middle East and elsewhere.  As released in the January/February Sketch_Pad Newsletter, the AZUR-Ecotecture team includes CATALYST principals Matthew Ackerman, LEED-AP AIA, and Jeffrey L. Zucker, LEED-AP AIA; internationally recognized designer, Yves P. Rathle, AIA AISA; as well as special consultant to the team, Dr. Paolo Soleri, of Arcosanti fame.

Dr. Soleri is president of the Cosanti Foundation and is best known for his 'Arcology' concept, best represented by Arcosanti, a proto-typical community intended for 5,000 residents which has been under construction as an urban laboratory since 1970, with the help of over 6,000 volunteers.  Dr. Soleri first came to the United States in 1947 to apprentice directly under Frank Lloyd Wright, at Taliesin West in Arizona.

These four individuals, each groundbreaking in his own right, have come together to address the present and future state of architecture in relation to the environment and humanity.  This latest meeting generated a productive discussion on the viability of actual projects, which would incorporate the visionary sustainability concepts of Dr. Soleri's arcologies.  AZUR-Ecotecture represents a unique opportunity to bring some of the ideas and concepts of Dr. Soleri to fruition on a world-wide scale.
